When I was young and looked at people whose age I am now, I often wondered if their perception of themselves changed when they looked in the mirror, or if they still had the young mind in an older body.

As you get older, the media is telling you what "women of a certain age" can or can't do. Dating a younger man will expose you to and in some cases, force you, to step outside your comfort zone. I'm a 40-something-year-old, happily divorced woman. And I've found that a woman in my physical, social and sometimes financial position is attractive to the 20- and 30-something-year-old male who professes to have grown tired of "needy" 20-something females. He's eight years younger than I, and this is the first I've heard it troubles him.

Dating a guy my age would be a unique experience for me -- and it's one I'm excited to pursue.

Maybe the idea of growing with someone is exciting.

Most women feel like there are no good men out there to date.

The truth is there are plenty of quality men available. By dating a man younger than you are, you're stepping outside of your comfort zone. Lisa Copeland is the Dating Coach who makes over 50's dating fun and easy.

Somehow, they've created this great fantasy of who they think we are, and that is what they want to experience. He could have had the pick of the litter his own age and even younger, yet he was asking me, a 50 year old woman, on a date? Instead, I played the game and flirted with him, while having a charming afternoon being courted by a young handsome man. As much chemistry as we had, I actually found it hard to relate to a lot of what he was saying, but that afternoon was fun and he sure did make me feel good!

As women over 50, most of us are not willing to head over to the local Steak and Shake for a date.

Maybe I'm ready -- and maybe it will be the perfect fit.

I'm pretty sure more than one person has thought that, with our similar hair, skin and eye colors, that we were either brother and really older sister or mom and son, but the pros far outweigh the cons in our relationship.

I must admit the latter, known as Cougar Dating, was a little hard for me to wrap my head around even as a Dating Coach.

Believe it or not, lots of men want to date us -- older men, men our age and even younger men are trying to catch our eye.

There's no reason to keep yourself from a potentially amazing relationship, just because society tells you it's weird.
