Internet dating first phone conversation

What I have found over the past 10 years as a dating coach, and from my own journey to find my own husband, this can be trickier than you think.

If you mess up the phone call, you could end up with few first dates and keep yourself single.

You have to be really clear on that and set your boundaries accordingly. That only means you won’t be meeting the men you are incompatible with and that’s not really a loss.

If he respects them, then he gets the green light and you two can continue to get to know him. Yes, you might get some radio silence at first but eventually, someone will emerge from that rubble and will be similar to you with values more aligned to yours.

"Hey, how about for our first date, we grab a bite to eat, and then I [vague reference to oral here]." Chances are slim you are going to be like, "Yeah, dude.

Let's go grab some Frostys and then bang." Socially competent people know to just ask someone out to dinner and then let the banging happen organically.13. There's no shame in being unemployed for a stretch or getting paid under the counter.

It's another if he freaks out at the prospect of you being within a 20-mile radius of his home.15. Either he has low self-esteem, doesn't care about pictures, or that picture is not at all indicative of him.

You shouldn't be one to judge a book by its cover, obviously, but if he's actively trying to deceive people, that says a lot about his personality.

Many of my dating coaching clients have questions about what to ask during the first phone call. Understandably, most busy midlife women say they don’t have time to waste on the wrong men.

"Baby" is code for "I think wearing puka shell necklaces is cool, and no matter where we go, I'm secretly going to do coke in the bathroom."12.

His idea of a date is really just a thinly veiled sexual euphemism.

That being said, I know it’s important for people to speak their truth and that part of that truth is not just communicating your lack of interest but that you find such talk so early on offensive. Don’t let what everyone else is doing change or influence your personal boundaries or limits.

What if you are still interested in talking but just not about sex? You might think that if you say no to every man who mentions sex in the first conversation, you won’t meet anyone.

Either he's being really forward with you or that "thinking of you" text was only sent to you because he wasn't paying attention.4.
